Specificities of Lavaux wine

The different soils and microclimates of the vineyards allow for an interesting and amazing variation of flavours in the wines of the Canton. At the edge of the lake, the vineyards gorge themselves on the triple effect of the sun: the rays directly from the sky, those reflecting off the lake and the warmth stored in the walls forming the thousands of terraces of Lavaux. The famous grape variety of the region is the Chasselas, a fruity and dry wine.

Appellations

There are three appellations in Lavaux:  Lavaux AOC, Calamin AOC and Dézaley AOC. The Lavaux AOC is divided into eight sites of production.

Grand Cru appellation Calamin

The wines of Epesses are robust with a strong personality giving off fruity and spicy aromas reminiscent of pineapple, pepper or black truffles.

Grand Cru appellation Dézaley

Dézaley is the flagship Appelation of Lavaux. This is the only one, with Calamin, to be classified as a Grand Cru. Its terraces, covered at 90% by Chasselas, allow for exceptional sun exposure giving the wine a scope and a remarkable persistence of flavour.

Epesses

The wines of Epesses are robust, with a strong personality giving off fruity and spicy aromas reminiscent of pineapple, pepper or black truffles.

The wines of St-Saphorin are rich and powerful while retaining great finesse supported by subtle and fruity aromas.
